Member for Mount Isa Rob Katter has congratulated the Richmond Early Education Centre successfully obtaining funds from the Small Assets Grant program.

“Congratulations to Jacinta Buick and the centre on receiving $15,000 through the Department of Education and Training for Early Years Services,” he said.

“The one-off grant is to support the development of young children and their families.”

The Director of Richmond Early Education Centre, Jacinta Buick said she had big plans to utilise the funds in conjunction with the ‘Me and My Mum Hub’ services.

“We plan to use the funds to build shade sails in front of the centre for the children to play. We also need computers, printer and a fridge,” she said

“Me and My Mum Hub is a weekly service that provides information and a support network for families within Richmond and remote surroundings. They operate out of the centre as a hub for families to come together and meet.

“We want to encourage families in remote areas near Richmond to come in and utilise the centre and resources available,” Ms Buick said.
