Question on Notice – Profits Northern Rail

Question on Notice
No. 812
Asked on Tuesday, 28 October 2014

MR KATTER asked the Minister for Transport and Main Roads (MR EMERSON) –

Will the Minister advise the annual profits generated by the great Northern Rail Line (Townsville to Mount Isa) over the last three years?

I thank the Member for Mt Isa for the question.

Despite future growth opportunities, tonnage along the Mount Isa line decreased during 2013-14, primarily due to the cessation of magnetite operations at Ernest Henry Mine and failure of the ammonia plant at Phosphate Hill.

Agreements between Queensland Rail and third party operator means that financial information for the Mount Isa Rail Line is considered commercial in confidence and cannot be provided
