17 Feb STATEMENT FROM ROBBIE KATTER MP: DUGALD RIVER MINE TRAGEDY

The North West grieves another two workers’ lives lost.

Regardless of where they came from, they died in our country and for a tight-knit community like Cloncurry, this has a deep impact.

We should all consider the family, friends and work mates of these two blokes and keep them in our prayers.

It is also important that we recognise everyone we know in our community who works in the mines and be grateful for the job they do and appreciate them coming home safely each shift.

I thank the Queensland Minister for Resources for keeping me in close contact over the past couple of days and will be speaking with him in the future about the incident.

The most important thing for now though is that we remember these men and support their families as they grieve.
